Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves

Tottenham Hotspur fell to their second successive defeat this afternoon as Wolves struck twice late on to claim all three points.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Tottenham Hotspur player ratings vs Wolves

7- Guglielmo VicarioCompared to Monday night, the goalkeeper’s performance was rather quiet, but during the course of the ninety minutes, he made a few vital saves and claims. His best play in the first half was a nice tip around the post. With two goals, there’s no chance.

Pedro Porro, eightThe Spaniard’s performance was incredibly comprehensive. He was a constant threat down the right, but he also provided assistance for Tottenham’s goal with a brilliant cross into the box. It was also one of his better performances from the back. He is not to blame for the late goals that were given up.

Eric Dier, who is six, made a few courageous and significant tackles in addition to playing excellent box defense. For ninety minutes, everything appeared perfect. Then, in the build-up to Wolves’ first goal, he gave away possession with a bad ball out from the back and attempted to advance rather than follow the runner for the second goal.

Ben Davies, eightAn amazing performance by Davies. Even though he just returned from an injury, he played a great game for the Spurs today. He risked everything—tackles, interceptions, blocks, and clearances. Regretfully, his teammates ultimately let him down a little.

Emerson Royal, 6 – It makes sense that at times he appeared to be a right-back playing left-back. He had trouble keeping up with the foot races that were thrown at him on that side and never really established himself in the last third like Porro did. Inattentive defense that also gave Wolves a late lead.

6.5 Yves BissoumaA little careless at times today, but to be fair, that was part of the game. received a yellow card, meaning he will miss the following game, and Ange took him off the field early.

7.5 Pierre-Emile HojbjergPEH gave a valiant performance. This is more of his style of play; it’s quite physical and a little scrappy. Spurs occasionally lacked a creative spark in there, but it’s obvious that Postecoglou trusts him too much to choose him over a more imaginative midfielder.

7-Pape Matar SarrI was assigned to replace James Maddison today, and I worked as a willing presser and runner the entire time. Although he lacks the same creative spark, he makes up for it with hard work.

Dejan Kulusevski – 7 – Deki gave an odd performance. He got off to a scorching start and used a beautiful display of skill to set up the goal. After that, he lost interest in the game and squandered several extremely good opportunities to make it 2-0.

Heung-min Son – 6 – Was barely in the game. Spurs didn’t control possession that well throughout the game and Son was a lonely figure up top. When he did get some touches on the ball, it was all a little sloppy from the South Korean.

Brennan Johnson: 7.5: A perfectly timed run and finish. had a couple of good runs down the left, but he came and went from the game. Had a better opportunity to score in the second half. cramped up after misjudging his shot.

Alternatives:

Six-year-old Rodrigo Bentancur came on to give Spurs greater midfield control, but he still lacks match sharpness.

Giovani Lo Celso (6.5) gave midfield a little more vigor and drive. nearly found the top corner to make it 2-0, but a fantastic save kept it out.

Bryan Gil, age sixadded a great deal of vigor and pressure without ever really touching the ball.
