Agreed Tottenham transfer tees up emotional exit for star loved by Conte but unfancied by Postecoglou
Ivan Perisic could complete an emotional return to Hajduk Split as a result of Tottenham Hotspur agreeing to sign Luka Vuskovic from the Croatian side, reports have claimed.
When the defender turns 18 years old, Tottenham plans to bring in Vuskovic. Hajduk will receive a windfall of almost £12 million from the deal, but it has since come to light that another benefit would be for them to sign Perisic, even though the two players play quite different positions.
The Evening Standard reports that the Croatian First League’s runners-up ‘feel they are at the front of the queue’ to provide Perisic his next move following his time with Spurs.
Vuskovic will not be available to Tottenham until 2025, while Perisic may move in the opposite direction much sooner. According to the article, there is even a possibility that Hajduk will approach him in January.
Perisic’s contract with Tottenham is already in its final year. To reconcile with Antonio Conte, he joined the team in 2022, but current head coach Ange Postecoglou doesn’t seem to be as fond of him.
The 34-year-old has participated in each of Tottenham’s games this season, but only once—in the Carabao Cup, not the Premier League—of those five outings has he started.
Since Spurs are now out of the Carabao Cup and have no European football on offer this season, it may be a while before Perisic plays as a starter again.
Homecoming on the cards for Perisic
Perisic would be taking an emotional next step if he decided to sign with Hajduk. Before departing for Sochaux between 2000 and 2006, he previously advanced in their academy.
He was never given the opportunity to represent his hometown team at the senior level, but if he did, he would be able to help them out with the wealth of experience he has accumulated over the course of his career.
Perisic experienced a protracted stint at Inter Milan and has previously played for teams like Club Brugge, Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich. He also has the third-most international appearances for Croatia overall.

It has been a genuine battle for the 26-year-old player ever since he switched from wearing Everton’s colors to those of Spurs last summer.
He has yet to score more than one Premier League goal for the London club, and he has been forced to witness Brazil exit the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in a most depressing way.
Overall, it appears that the 45-cap Brazil star only needs some luck, with O’Hara standing by the player’s reputation.
O’Hara said, “I have to talk about Richarlison. He was active on Twitter and other social media. During Brazil’s 5-1 triumph over Bolivia, he was replaced. He missed a good opportunity, was ejected, and was sobbing on the bench.
“I actually watched that. I said ‘I kind of feel sorry for him’. He is a player who is struggling for form. Struggling to find the back of the net. But his passion about his game. He wants to do well for Tottenham and he wants to do well for Brazil.
“You see a lot of players out there who don’t actually really give a monkeys how they play and they just pick up a pay cheque. He is on the bench crying because he can’t score.”
Pressure mounting on Richarlison
It’s nice to feel bad for the guy, but that won’t help him improve his performances because he needs to start producing right away.
Son Heung-min, who played in the middle for Tottenham and scored a hat-trick against Burnley, forced Ange Postecoglou to remove him from the starting lineup.
Brennan Johnson has now entered the structure. Another player will move up in the Tottenham hierarchy if Richarlison doesn’t immediately regain his form.
