OFFER SUMITTED: AS player pushing for a move away from Tottenham.
An update has come to light on the future of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso with Real Betis making a late move for him.
Who will Spurs sell?
Ange Postecoglou, the club’s new manager, recently acknowledged in a media interview that Spurs could need to reduce the size of their overstuffed roster before adding any more players this summer.
The head coach of Tottenham stated, “We can’t just keep signing players.
“As it is, our squad is too large. Because everyone wants to participate and play, it has an impact on training and the players themselves.
“One thing doesn’t necessarily have to happen before the other; instead, our current priority is to reduce the squad size and see where it leads us in terms of recruiting more reinforcements. That is something we constantly evaluate. There are still two weeks left in the window, and I’m confident that something will change.
Therefore, exits will be crucial for Spurs in the last days of the transfer season. However, with only nine days left, they won’t have enough time to do all of their business before January.
Numerous players, including Tanguy Ndombele, Lo Celso, Djed Spence, Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, have been mentioned in connection with departures from Spurs.
Troy Parrott, a young striker and Republic of Ireland international, is another to be suggested. After Postecoglou’s cold shoulder, Parrott may be on the verge of a shocking move to the Eredivisie (TEAMtalk).
The aforementioned players may follow Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Lucas Moura, and Joe Rodon out the exit, but Lo Celso is at the center of a recent allegation.
In fact, it is currently thought that the Argentine international is “pushing” for a summer transfer away from Spurs as his former club Real Betis tries a last-minute deal.
According to journalist Rudy Galetti, who informed X of what he had learned on Lo Celso and his potential plans, this is the case.
Galetti stated that Lo Celso and Real Betis are still attempting to determine whether there are margins for a loan move with a buy option.
“Talks with Tottenham are on: Giovani is insisting for his return at Betis. Tottenham are open to let him go but – to date – only including a buy obligation as part of the deal.”
How good is Giovani Lo Celso?
The South American hasn’t quite lived up to his price tag while wearing a Spurs jersey, but he has previously flourished on loan at Villarreal under Unai Emery.
In 2022, goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli even referred to Lo Celso as the “top player in the world” in an interview with Super Deporte.
As a team, he “gives us a plus,” according to Rulli.
“He aids in our development, and I learn nothing by claiming that he is a top player in the world. I hope he does well since I am quite familiar with him as a player and a person.
